Principal, Global Sourcing (Cross-Border Procurement Manager)

About the role

Coupang is looking for a Principal, Global Sourcing (Senior Cross-Border Procurement Manager) to help lead its expansion in Taiwan. The role sources products for Coupang's Rocket Overseas service, which offers free international delivery on millions of best-selling products from Korea, the U.S. and beyond.

Key responsibilities

• Identify high-potential global products through data-driven research, customer insights from the Coupang app and Taiwan market trend analysis.
• Source and evaluate overseas suppliers across Asia, the U.S. or Europe, ensuring quality, cost and delivery reliability.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, MOQs, lead time and return policies to maximize margin and improve supply chain efficiency.
• Build long-term supplier partnerships, using performance scorecards to track OTIF, defect rate and responsiveness.
• Develop buying plans aligned with sales forecasts, inventory health and seasonal demand, and curate category assortments based on sales performance and conversion rates.
• Work with logistics, customs, compliance and finance teams to ensure accurate import documentation and smooth cross-border operations.
• Monitor product lifecycle metrics such as sell-through rate, GMV contribution and margin, and report sourcing activities and recommendations to management.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in procurement, buying or global sourcing, ideally in e-commerce, retail or consumer goods.
• Proven track record in overseas supplier management and contract negotiation.
• Fluent written and spoken Chinese and English; strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity with import regulations, cross-border compliance and logistics processes.

Required skills

• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and data interpretation.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple categories and projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Preferred: SQL or BI tools, experience with Korean, Japanese or Southeast Asian suppliers, knowledge of supplier auditing or quality inspection, and additional languages such as Japanese or Korean.
