Global Software Support Engineer

About the role

Join Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science, as a Global Software Support Engineer. You will provide software support for equipment applications, work with customers and field engineers, and develop your technical expertise in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Resolve low‑complexity software application and system issues with supervision.
• Provide customer software support via the ticketing system.
• Assist field engineers in analyzing software issues on customer tools.
• Demonstrate beginner‑level understanding of product, system software, and troubleshooting tools.
• Complete required trainings and certifications for product knowledge.
• Familiarize with equipment software documentation, key features, and installation/upgrade instructions.

Required profile

• Conceptual knowledge of theories, practices and procedures within software support.
• General business knowledge gained through education or past experience.
• No supervisory responsibilities; accountable for technical contribution.
• Ability to use existing procedures to solve standard problems.
• Limited impact on team, works within standardized practices to meet deadlines.
• Effective communication: exchanges straightforward information and checks for understanding.

Required skills

• Strong experience developing web applications using HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks and decoupled architectures.
• Proficiency in C# or another object‑oriented programming language.
• Understanding of UI/UX design principles.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD, Docker, and Git.
• Experience with virtualization technologies.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Programming experience in Python.
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, MariaDB) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB).
