Server Platform / Mechanical / Thermal / BMC / BIOS Architect

About the role

TSMC IT is looking for an experienced architect to lead the design and integration of server platform, mechanical, thermal, BMC and BIOS aspects for our server products. The role can focus on one of three specializations – platform architecture, mechanical/thermal design, or BMC/BIOS firmware – and will work closely with server vendors and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Define and guide server CPU/GPU platform architecture, including motherboard, backplane and adapter board design.
• Develop and maintain storage component integration and OCP DC‑MHS standards, and create TSMC HPM standards.
• Debug server hardware issues and provide technical guidance to vendors.
• Design thermal solutions such as fan systems, heat sinks, liquid cooling, and data‑center rack cooling.
• Perform 3D modeling (Creo, SolidWorks) and thermal simulations, and analyse chassis and rack structures.
• Collaborate with vendors on BMC and BIOS firmware, customize OpenBMC, and develop proprietary RESTful APIs.
• Stay up‑to‑date with emerging server technologies and translate requirements into practical designs.

Required profile

• Proven experience in the server industry, meeting at least one of the three specializations: platform architecture, mechanical/thermal design, or BMC/BIOS firmware.
• Strong communication skills to work with server vendors and cross‑functional teams.
• Ability to analyse complex hardware problems and propose effective solutions.
