Construction Manager

About the role

The Construction Manager is responsible for ensuring that construction projects meet defined safety, quality, schedule and cost targets while fully complying with PDO policies, engineering procedures and working instructions.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure construction meets safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives and adheres to company policies.
• Support proposal development, align execution strategy, schedule milestones and provide cost and man‑hour estimates.
• Prepare conceptual layouts for laydown areas and temporary facilities.
• Develop contract outsourcing strategies with procurement and select subcontractors based on capability, history and evaluations.
• Staff construction fields promptly, providing training and pre‑trip briefings.
• Produce regular site reports, identify schedule delays, claims, authority or industrial‑relations issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Coach and coordinate field representatives to ensure high compliance with work procedures.
• Develop resource plans, identify high‑potential staff and create career development plans.
• Inspect and audit sites, delivering improvement instructions for non‑compliance.
• Collaborate with the Asia Construction Manager to execute regional initiatives and work with HR on employee and labour matters.
• Lead warehouse supervisors and manage construction material logistics.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline.
• 15–20 years of experience in construction engineering, including mechanical construction, piping erection and crane lifting.
• Proven ability to lead successful teams, drive strategic thinking and manage resource planning.
• In‑depth knowledge of site safety management, quality assurance, cost control, change management and schedule control tools.
• Strong influencing and communication skills, able to handle multiple demands.
• Fluent in English and Chinese (both written and spoken).
