Steam/Gas Mechanic – Power Generation

About the role

We are looking for a Steam/Gas Mechanic to join GE Vernova’s FieldCore team. The role involves installing, maintaining and repairing heavy rotating machinery used in power generation, ensuring reliable and efficient operation of energy assets.

Key responsibilities

• Dismantle, assemble, move and align machinery and equipment using hoists, cranes, chain falls and various hand and power tools.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings and technical documentation to determine correct work procedures.
• Perform material and machine inspections with precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, protractors and torque wrenches.
• Conduct machining and welding operations to fabricate parts for lab and shop training equipment.
• Manage shipping, receiving, inventory and control of tools, equipment and supplies for T&DC projects.
• Install machinery and equipment according to layout plans and drawings in industrial settings.
• Work holidays, weekends and overtime as required.

Required profile

• Experience with installation, maintenance and repair of heavy rotating machinery in power generation environments.
• Ability to read and follow technical drawings and documentation.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including holidays and weekends.

Required skills

• Use of hoists, cranes, chain falls, hand tools, power tools, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
• Precision measuring with micrometers, rules, squares, plumb bobs, dial indicators, laser alignment equipment, calipers, protractors and torque wrenches.
• Machining and welding operations.
• Blueprint and schematic interpretation.
