Software Engineer (FA Automation)

About the role

KLA's Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells inspection, metrology and analytics systems to chip manufacturers. As a Software Engineer (FA Automation) in Taichung, you will deliver high-impact work on equipment control and integration software for semiconductor inspection systems, working with global engineering teams and on-site at customer fabs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain equipment control and integration software for semiconductor inspection systems
• Design and implement software solutions using C#, C++ and Python
• Perform on-site system integration, testing, troubleshooting and issue resolution at customer fabs
• Collaborate with global FIG, ICOS and customer engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery
• Improve software quality, stability and deployment processes
• Support integration with factory automation systems, MES and equipment interfaces

Required profile

• Minimum 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong proficiency in C#, C++ and Python
• Ability to independently deliver end-to-end software solutions
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in real production environments
• Willingness to work in customer-facing and on-site environments, with flexibility for frequent domestic and international travel
• Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)

Required skills

• C#, C++, Python
• Experience in equipment software, factory automation (FA) or the semiconductor industry is preferred
• Familiarity with SECS/GEM, EFEM or equipment integration architecture is preferred
• Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes and experience with MES or FA systems is preferred
• Customer-facing experience and hands-on system integration are strongly preferred; additional languages such as Mandarin or Japanese are a plus
