Senior Counsel Intellectual Property

About the role

Qnity is seeking a Senior Counsel Intellectual Property to lead patent‑related legal functions across its advanced electronics business. Reporting to the Chief IP Counsel, you will work closely with R&D, regulatory, commercial teams and senior leaders to align IP strategy with business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, file and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications.
• Conduct patentability assessments and manage global patent portfolios.
• Perform freedom‑to‑operate (FTO) analyses and provide legal opinions on validity, infringement and clearance.
• Advise business units on IP risks during product development, commercialization and strategic transactions.
• Support M&A, licensing and collaboration agreements with IP due diligence and contract negotiation.
• Educate internal stakeholders on IP best practices and emerging legal developments.
• Assist in managing patent litigation and opposition proceedings, coordinating with external counsel.

Required profile

• Fluency in Mandarin and English.
• J.D. degree or equivalent legal qualification from a recognized institution.
• Licensed attorney in the U.S. or Taiwan, registered to practice before the USPTO or Taiwan Intellectual Property Office.
• Technical background in chemistry, chemical engineering or material science.
• 5–10+ years of experience as an IP attorney, including patent preparation, prosecution, FTO analysis, litigation and people management.
