Software Engineer II – Power Assessment

About the role

Microsoft’s Windows Ecosystem and Commercial Engagement team is seeking a self‑motivated Software Engineer II to advance power and energy‑efficiency assessments within the Windows Assessment Toolkit. You will help shape battery‑life measurement tools that OEMs and silicon partners rely on to deliver high‑quality Windows devices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated solutions that measure battery life, energy consumption, and power efficiency on Windows devices.
• Own the accuracy, reliability, and repeatability of energy‑efficiency measurements across test cycles, hardware platforms, and product releases.
• Define and evolve methodologies, metrics, and validation approaches for power‑related user experiences.
• Build automation frameworks and deployment mechanisms that simplify execution and maintenance of assessment workloads.
• Analyze power‑consumption patterns to identify improvement opportunities and ensure ecosystem alignment.
• Collaborate with hardware, silicon, OEM, and platform engineering teams to improve evaluation and validation practices.
• Deliver secure, maintainable, production‑quality software that meets engineering and compliance standards.
