Senior Product Engineer - GaN Devices

About the role

Cambridge GaN Devices (CGD), a fabless semiconductor company spun out of the University of Cambridge, is looking for a Senior Product Engineer to join its Product and Test Engineering team in Linkou, Taiwan. The role reports directly to the Product and Test Engineering Manager and involves developing the product engineering function as the company grows. It works closely with internal teams and Asian subcontractors for wafer fab, assembly, test and qualification.

The position is based in Linkou but requires regular travel to Asian subcontractors and occasional travel to the Cambridge, UK headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Play a key role in the development and manufacture of CGD's products, including New Product Introduction (NPI), Yield Engineering and Product Quality
• Work closely with internal teams and Asian partners providing wafer fab, assembly and test, reliability testing and failure analysis services
• Help deliver high-performance, high-quality GaN devices for international customers

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above in Electronics, Microelectronics, Semiconductor Physics, Engineering or similar
• Demonstrable experience in a Product, Test or Quality Engineering role from NPI through to high-volume production
• Solid experience in IC assembly (QFN/DFN/FC), package design, assembly QC, BOM optimization, yield engineering and package evaluation
• Experience with fabless IC qualification plans, reliability and failure analysis, and RMA handling
• Fluent in Mandarin and English, written and spoken
• Willing and able to travel worldwide when needed
• Desirable: automotive product and quality experience (PPAP, ASIL, AEC-Q101), external/internal audit experience, power device manufacturing experience, project management of NPI and IC qualification

Required skills

• Yield enhancement, defect reduction, WAT, WS/CP and FT data analysis
• Data mining and analytical skills, with tools such as yieldHUB, Spotfire and JMP
• SPC charts, Cp/Cpk improvement, ISO9001 and ISO14001 quality and environmental policies
• FMEA-based qualification plans, JEDEC and AEC-Q101 standards
• Supplier selection and management of assembly partners
