Senior Footwear Materials Quality Engineer – Color

About the role

Join Nike's Product Integrity organization as a Senior Footwear Materials Quality Engineer focused on color. You will lead end‑to‑end resolution of Tier 2 material quality issues, working closely with suppliers and factories to restore performance and prevent recurrence.

Key responsibilities

• Own assigned color issues from intake through verified closure, driving containment and risk mitigation.
• Lead structured root‑cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and verify effectiveness.
• Coordinate with Tier 1 factories, Tier 2 suppliers, and internal teams to align on issue facts, owners, timelines, and escalation.
• Maintain accurate issue records, status, risk level, next steps and closure evidence for dashboards and reviews.
• Use quality data to identify recurring failure modes, systemic supplier gaps and contribute to capability programs.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert in color quality, measurement, matching and process control across materials and manufacturing partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in materials, textile, color, chemical, footwear manufacturing, industrial engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in material manufacturing, material quality engineering, supplier quality, color quality or production issue resolution in footwear or a related industry.
• Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes, testing, inspection, specifications, defect modes and quality risk controls.
• Ability to work independently with suppliers, factories and cross‑functional teams, travel ~10%.
