Senior Metrology & Inspection Engineer

About the role

Touchdown builds AI systems, the software they run, the chips and packaging behind them, and aims to make compute accessible worldwide while reindustrializing advanced semiconductor manufacturing in the United States. This Senior Metrology & Inspection Engineer role is based in Hsinchu, Taiwan, and is full-time. The position is open to 2-3 candidates and is employed through a local employer of record; Mandarin is a strong plus, and English is required for written work.

Key responsibilities

• Own measurement plans on active programs and qualify gauges with measurement-system analysis.
• Set sampling and defect-classification rules.
• Own metrology and inspection methods and sampling, gauge R&R and measurement-system analysis, and defect review and classification.
• Work on dimensional, film, overlay and electrical metrology, optical and e-beam inspection, and metrology for advanced packaging structures.

Required profile

• 8+ years in a high-volume fab, foundry or advanced-packaging environment.
• Metrology or inspection engineering background.
• Has qualified gauges and set sampling plans in production.

Required skills

• Measurement-system analysis.
• Hands-on experience with optical, e-beam or X-ray metrology or inspection tools.
• Helpful: Mandarin.

The company uses AI-assisted analysis and automation daily and checks their output against measurements. It does not operate a production fab itself and hires for skill and judgment, not for someone else's process recipes. Applications are reviewed against the work described in the posting.
