About the role
Coupang is expanding its presence in Taiwan and is looking for a Principal, Legal Counsel (Privacy) to join its legal team. The role covers privacy and AI-related legal matters, including privacy opinions, data protection reviews and government correspondence. Candidates must apply through the internal transfer process using their Coupang e-mail address.
Key responsibilities
- Provide privacy legal opinions and conduct privacy legal risk assessments
- Review contracts and DPAs, maintain a contract inventory, and review and update privacy policy and privacy plan documents
- Manage data subject rights requests and handle privacy incidents
- Correspond with government authorities on privacy matters
- Support privacy reviews such as Privacy Impact Assessments, and support privacy monitoring and internal audit
- Conduct legal reviews of AI use cases
Required profile
- Qualified lawyer with a valid bar admission
- 5 to 10 years of proven legal experience in privacy, GDPR and related areas, either in a law firm or as in-house counsel
- Strong team player with good interpersonal and communication skills, able to collaborate across departments and with external partners
- Native Mandarin Chinese and professional-level English
