Backend Software Engineer

About the role

TSMC’s IT division is looking for a Backend Software Engineer to design and build flexible, high‑performance backend systems that support the company’s world‑class manufacturing, engineering and business applications. The role requires strong multi‑disciplinary engineering skills and the ability to work on large‑scale, complex platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain backend services for TSMC software products.
• Write clean, efficient, and testable code in languages such as C++, C#, Java or Python.
• Refactor existing applications to improve performance, scalability and maintainability.
• Develop automated tests and apply software design principles to ensure high quality.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate APIs (gRPC, REST, GraphQL) and container‑based workloads.
• Monitor and optimise the sustainability and performance of deployed services.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong technical background in at least one of the following: C++, C#, Java, Python, databases or system infrastructure architecture.
• Experience with backend frameworks such as Spring/Spring Boot.NET Core/ASP.NET Core, Django or Flask.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, domain‑driven design (DDD) or test‑driven development (TDD).
• Hands‑on experience managing container workloads using Kubernetes or similar orchestration tools.
• Knowledge of API design standards (OpenAPI/Swagger, gRPC, GraphQL) and version control with Git.
• Exposure to Scrum or DevOps practices and, optionally, AI domain projects.
