Systems Engineering Manager

About the role

KLA, a global leader in electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, is looking for a Systems Engineering Manager in Hsinchu. The role owns the performance, stability and customer success of the Taiwan 8xx installed base, covering availability, inspection sensitivity, image quality, throughput and repeatability. It also develops technical depth and ownership within the local systems engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex, cross-subsystem troubleshooting involving electron optics, detectors, stages, vacuum, electronics, software, algorithms, calibration and image-processing pipelines.
• Establish a structured escalation process for high-severity customer issues, including containment, root-cause analysis, recovery planning, executive communication and corrective-action tracking.
• Serve as the primary technical interface between Taiwan customers, local service and applications teams, product engineering, program management, marketing and headquarters.
• Translate customer requirements and fab use cases into system requirements, priorities, acceptance criteria and product-improvement proposals.
• Drive qualification, acceptance and high-volume manufacturing readiness across multiple customer-site systems.
• Coordinate across Taiwan and U.S. time zones and give concise technical and management updates during critical escalations.
• Build trusted relationships with demanding technical customers and communicate technical risks, limitations and recovery plans clearly under pressure.

Required profile

• Doctorate with 4 years of related work experience, or Master's degree with 6 years, or Bachelor's degree with 9 years.
• Demonstrated people-management or technical-leadership experience, including coaching engineers and leading teams through high-pressure escalations.
• Significant experience supporting complex semiconductor capital equipment in customer fabs or similar demanding production environments.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct authority and to drive issues to closure across geography and organization.
• Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese, with the ability to hold technical discussions and write clearly in English.
• Open to up to 25% global travel.
