System Engineer

About the role

KLA, a global leader in electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, is hiring a System Engineer in Hsinchu. The Optical Metrology Division develops metrology and inspection products used for optical overlay metrology, and the role works with multi-disciplinary teams to improve current products and help develop next-generation ones.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement design improvements to released products and assist in developing next-generation products
• Take part in designing and testing system improvements, spec validation and solution implementation
• Gather and analyze data from customer sites to find systematic or intermittent issues
• Handle field escalations where field service engineers cannot resolve complex performance problems, with written plans of action and hands-on support at customer sites worldwide
• Write technical reports covering issues, analysis, assessments, system status, best-known methods and engineering recommendations
• Design and run multi-disciplinary experiments, write and peer review detailed test plans and summary reports
• Perform root cause analysis and coordinate with service, manufacturing, engineering and marketing teams to optimize system performance
• Coordinate with outside vendors to deliver sub-system products and troubleshoot and maintain engineering prototypes at headquarters

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Physics, Material Science or a related field
• Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills
• Ability to communicate clearly with cross-functional teams, division management and external customers
• Self-driven and a strong team player

Required skills

• Data analysis tools such as JMP, Matlab and Microsoft Excel
• Advantageous: knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing, optical-mechanical systems, wafer handling systems and servo control systems
• Advantageous: experience with yield and process control instrument systems for the semiconductor industry
