Staff Data Scientist (Supply Chain Management)

About the role

Coupang is expanding in Taiwan and is looking for a Staff Data Scientist to join its supply chain management technology team. The role suits someone passionate about applied research, AI/ML and Operations Research who wants to work across product, engineering, business and operations to build production solutions for automating supply chain management.

Key responsibilities

• Work with product, engineering and business teams to turn ambiguous requirements into practical solutions.
• Research and analyse data to inform model development, setting metrics and success criteria.
• Build data-driven solutions for automated decision-making at scale using statistics, machine learning and operations research.
• Solve complex data problems with methods such as deep learning and report findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Analyse launched solutions to measure outcomes and identify improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, industrial engineering, operations research or another quantitative discipline, with 5+ years of experience in industry or academia.
• Independent analysis of business problems through data manipulation, hypothesis formulation, experiment design and statistical analysis.
• Strong critical thinking and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience in statistics and ML fundamentals.
• Python, SQL and basic visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Preferred: advanced ML frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch, experience with demand forecasting, lead time prediction and causal models, large-scale optimization, and familiarity with Spark, Hive, HBase, Redis and MongoDB.
