Sr. Engineer, Product Design

About the role

Molex is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of high‑speed connector and cage solutions for big‑data and hyperscale customers. You will work within the New Product Development team of the Datacom & Specialty Solutions division, collaborating with cross‑functional partners to bring innovative, high‑tech components to market.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with signal‑integrity, manufacturing integration, program management, sales, and senior leadership teams to define product requirements.
• Create and modify 3D models, detailed drawings, and bills of materials using CAD tools.
• Conduct mechanical design analysis, simulations, and generate test reports to validate performance and eliminate design errors.
• Perform measurements and testing on prototypes, support manufacturing and quality assurance during product launches, and travel to global sites as needed.
• Drive supplier engagement, evaluate new technologies, and improve cost, quality, and NPD processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or 5+ years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Experience designing connectors, sheet‑metal parts, molds, dies, light pipes, or thermal solutions.
• Ability to file patents (not limited to 5 years).

Required skills

• 3D/2D CAD: NX (preferred), Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM, and FEA.
• Knowledge of molding, stamping, PCB, plating, and assembly processes.
• Strong mechanical design, analysis, and testing capabilities.
