Senior Threat Research Engineer (Taiwan)

About the role

Obsidian Security is seeking a Senior Threat Research Engineer to lead detection engineering within its Taiwan team. You will translate real‑world identity and SaaS threats into accurate, explainable detections that protect customers across cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Define the technical direction, operating model, quality standards and hiring plan for the Taiwan detection engineering function.
• Research emerging cloud, identity and SaaS threats and convert attacker behaviors into actionable detection opportunities.
• Develop comprehensive threat models covering attack paths, adversary techniques, identity misuse and control failures.
• Design, author, test and maintain detection rules and behavioral detection models.
• Specify telemetry, enrichment, correlation and historical context needed for effective detections.
• Collaborate with security research, product management, platform and data engineering, and customer success teams to validate and operationalize detections.

Required profile

• Proven experience in threat research, detection modeling and data analysis.
• Strong background in cloud and SaaS security, particularly identity‑focused threats.
• Ability to translate complex attacker techniques into clear, operational detection logic.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
