Senior Hardware Design Engineer – Server & GPU Platforms

About the role

Supermicro is seeking a Senior Hardware Design Engineer to lead the creation of high‑performance X86 server and GPU platform hardware. You will own the full design cycle from schematics to PCB layout, ensuring integration with software, firmware, and validation teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed schematics, hierarchical sub‑designs, PCB layouts and BOMs for server and GPU platforms.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (software, firmware, CPLD, MCU, validation) to guarantee seamless integration.
• Conduct design reviews, approve documents, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Create and execute comprehensive test plans, debug hardware issues, and work with QA to validate performance and reliability.
• Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and prepare thorough technical documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (preferred).
• 5–10 years of experience in circuit design (digital, analog, power) and PCB layout.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Self‑motivated, able to work in a fast‑paced environment and support business travel as needed.

Required skills

• Circuit design (digital, analog, power) and PCB layout.
• Proficiency with industry‑standard design and verification tools.
• Debugging using CScript, RMT, firmware update tools, oscilloscopes, TDR, logic and protocol analyzers.
• Knowledge of EMC, high‑speed signal design, and power‑integrity analysis.
• Familiarity with server architecture, data‑center environments, Verilog top‑level coding and CPLD design.
