Project Manager – Ubuntu Embedded Systems

About the role

Canonical is seeking a Project Manager for its Devices business to lead complex, customer‑facing projects that deliver Ubuntu images to a wide range of devices, from robots and edge gateways to PCs and automotive systems. The role is office‑based in Taipei and acts as the primary liaison between engineering teams and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage projects through the full lifecycle, ensuring goals for Canonical and the client are met.
• Deliver engineering professional services and custom board enablement for Ubuntu images.
• Develop statements of work, project schedules, and obtain client agreement on deliverables.
• Monitor risk, drive technical issue resolution, and maintain regular communication with stakeholders.
• Coordinate third‑party deliverables, advocate Canonical technologies, and support non‑standard work hours across time zones.

Required profile

• Proven project management experience delivering engineering services to customers.
• Experience managing cross‑cultural, multi‑continent teams, especially in Asia, Europe and the Americas.
• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Strong leadership, problem‑solving abilities and partnership building.
• PMP/PMI or PRINCE2 Practitioner certification preferred.
