Software Quality Assurance Engineer – Linux, PC, IoT

About the role

Canonical is an international software company delivering Ubuntu, the world’s best free software platform. The Commercial Engineering Quality Assurance team collaborates with engineering, OEM and ODM partners to certify Ubuntu on laptops, desktops, IoT and other devices. As a Software QA Engineer you will shape quality strategy, build testing processes and drive improvements across the development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, create and manage the overall Quality Planning strategy and documentation.
• Improve automated test capability through design and code contributions.
• Perform automated and manual testing of Ubuntu Desktop, Server and Core on the latest hardware.
• Identify, isolate and document bugs clearly in the bug database.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure consistent execution and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Experience with Linux desktop environments; Ubuntu experience is a plus.
• Solid understanding of commercial software QA practices and integration with Linux community standards.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell, Python or JavaScript.
