Legal Counsel – Taiwan

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Legal Counsel to serve as the primary legal contact for our operations in Taiwan. The role works closely with regional teams, providing day‑to‑day legal support and contributing to broader business initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support on Taiwan‑related business operations, projects, and transactions.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements such as customer, supplier, technology, service, confidentiality, and partnership contracts.
• Collaborate with business and operational teams to deliver practical legal solutions.
• Support corporate and governance matters, including approvals, statutory filings, licences, and company records.
• Handle general employment matters, documentation, and workplace policies.
• Monitor Taiwan laws and regulatory developments and assess business impact.
• Assist with regulatory and licensing matters as needed.
• Coordinate with external counsel on specialised, contentious, or high‑risk issues.
• Work with regional Legal & Compliance colleagues to align local practices with internal policies and Taiwan requirements.
• Maintain legal documentation, contract precedents, and internal guidance.
• Identify and communicate material legal, contractual, and regulatory risks.

Required profile

• Legal qualification in Taiwan with relevant post‑qualification experience.
• Experience in a reputable law firm and/or in‑house legal team.
• Proven track record handling commercial contracts and corporate legal matters.
• Strong knowledge of Taiwan commercial and corporate law; exposure to employment or regulatory matters is a plus.
• Excellent legal drafting, research, analytical, and negotiation abilities.
• Professional proficiency in Mandarin and English for legal drafting and business communication.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with regional and cross‑functional teams.
• Experience in technology, digital services, financial services, or other regulated industries is advantageous.
