Laboratory Senior Chemist

About the role

Fromosa, a joint venture between Veolia Group and others, provides recovery and resource-based solutions for pharmaceutical waste solvents. It is looking for an experienced Laboratory Senior Chemist to lead analytical method development, oversee complex chemical analyses and ensure compliance with international quality standards in a fast-paced chemical/pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, research and validate new analytical methods and experiments to support product development and process improvements.
• Lead complex chemical analyses of raw materials, in-process samples and finished products using instruments such as GC-FID, GC-MS and HPLC.
• Oversee calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment to minimise downtime.
• Lead investigations of Out-of-Specification (OOS) or Out-of-Trend (OOT) results and implement CAPA for root cause analysis.
• Partner with production and other experts to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and support technology transfer from lab to plant scale.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior chemists and lab technicians.
• Ensure laboratory activities comply with ISO and cGMP-like standards, authorise and review SOPs and technical reports, and follow working instructions.
• Act as the QHSE guarantor for employee safety, enforce safety procedures and propose improvements to health, safety, quality and environmental practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional laboratory experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical or chemical industry.
• Precision-oriented, problem-solving and able to communicate complex chemical data to non-scientific stakeholders.

Required skills

• Deep proficiency in chromatography (HPLC/GC) and spectroscopy.
• Preferred: hands-on experience with LIMS, familiarity with ISO and cGMP regulations, and accurate record keeping under GMP.
