Composites Engineer – Roval Wheel Development

About the role

You will be the technical bridge between Specialized’s Roval wheel program and its composite‑material vendors. Working on the manufacturing floor and in the test lab, you will ensure that new rim, spoke and component designs reach production with the required performance and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary liaison with composite rim vendors, translating design intent, test data and manufacturing constraints.
• Analyze SBCT lab results, identify how vendor materials and processes affect performance, and drive root‑cause investigations.
• Collaborate with design and quality engineers to develop corrective actions and validate solutions at supplier sites.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with top‑tier vendors, guiding them toward Specialized’s standards and advancing their technology.
• Support fixture development, validate vendor tooling and gauges, and oversee sample wheel assembly for quality compliance.
• Monitor vendor wheel testing, integrate assembly parameters into analyses, and ensure wheels meet SBC requirements.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (mechanical, materials or related).
• Strong problem‑solving and negotiation abilities.
• Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills.
• Hands‑on mechanical aptitude and ability to manage personal workload.
• Experience building bicycle wheels and basic knowledge of composites and metallurgical failure modes.
