C# Software Engineer - Document IDE

About the role

BoostDraft is a software company building a document editor for lawyers, inspired by the support features of IDEs such as VS Code and IntelliJ. The product runs as a Microsoft Word add-in and targets lawyers drafting standardized but lengthy documents such as contracts. It has grown rapidly since launch, with over 10,000 active paid users and several large contracts with law firms and enterprises, and has been accepted into accelerators such as MassChallenge, StartX and MIT Sandbox. The company is engineering-first, with about half its team as software engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement classes and interfaces for the document IDE using C#
• Refactor existing code to improve extensibility and write unit tests
• Develop effective algorithms and review code written by teammates
• Contribute to overall architecture design and technology selection
• Interview customers to understand their work and pain points, and turn this into detailed feature specifications
• Propose innovative yet feasible ideas for new features
• Help set priorities, recruit engineers, and mentor team members

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of corporate C# development experience
• Experience developing a user-facing product
• Fluent English communication
• Belief in writing clean, efficient code
• Master's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field
• Nice to have: previous startup experience and fluent Korean

• C# (must), with partial Rust and Python
• .NET Framework 4.8 and .NET 8.0
• SQLite and Amazon RDS
• AWS CloudWatch, Elasticsearch + Kibana, BigQuery
• Github, GitHub Actions (self-hosted Windows runner) and Azure DevOps
• Team development and code review with Github
• Understanding of CI/CD
