Applications Engineer

About the role

KLA, a global leader in electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, is hiring an Applications Engineer in Hsinchu. The role supports wafer inspection products and drives product adoption at customer sites, working with customers, engineering, sales and marketing teams inside KLA and with customer engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Support wafer inspection products, including projects on product adoption, penetration, new product characterization, customer demonstrations and head-to-head activities at customer facilities.
• Generate best known method documents and other training material, and transfer product knowledge to the worldwide Field Applications team.
• Work with customers to publish papers at industry symposiums or in technical journals.
• Collaborate with engineering, sales and marketing teams within KLA and with customer engineers outside KLA.
• Analyze situations and data in depth, exercise judgment in choosing methods and criteria, and act independently on new or special assignments.
• Drive product adoption at the customer site and support headquarters and the local Business Unit in achieving their business goals.

Required profile

• Masters degree in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering or Materials Science; semiconductor process knowledge is a plus.
• Demonstrated independent research and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to handle multiple projects in parallel and to work successfully in a multicultural environment.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, leadership and project execution abilities, and strong problem-solving skills.

Required skills

• Use of statistics to derive meaningful results.
• Understanding of professional concepts and company objectives applied creatively and effectively.
