Antenna Design Engineer – Device Connectivity

About the role

Amazon Lab126 is seeking an Antenna Design Engineer to lead the development of wireless connectivity solutions for consumer electronics. You will work on Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth (BR/EDR, BLE), and 802.15.4 technologies such as ZigBee and Thread, collaborating with hardware, software, operations, quality assurance, and silicon partners.

Key responsibilities

• Define antenna concepts and requirements during product definition.
• Lead antenna design, optimization, implementation, and validation across multiple product programs.
• Identify, debug, and resolve system‑level antenna‑RF issues, including OTA performance, desense, and EMI.
• Achieve regulatory and performance goals for over‑the‑air (OTA) testing.
• Support antenna manufacturing test and sustainment activities, including field issue resolution.
• Mentor junior team members and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• Travel internationally as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of antenna design experience for 5G‑LTE, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, and IoT products.
• Proven track record designing small‑form‑factor devices (handheld, smartphone, wearable).
• Experience in high‑volume manufacturing or sourcing environments.
• Strong cross‑functional collaboration and English communication skills.

Required skills

• Antenna design and optimization for Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, BLE, ZigBee, Thread, and sub‑1 GHz applications.
• Proficiency with simulation tools such as CST, HFSS, and ADS.
• Expertise in prototyping, implementation, and validation of complex antenna systems.
• Debugging of antenna‑RF, desense, and EMI issues.
• Knowledge of OTA regulatory requirements.
