Staff Mechanical Engineer – Mechanical Design

About the role

The Staff Mechanical Engineer will develop new mechanical systems and modules while maintaining existing designs. The role involves researching concepts, creating solutions with 3D modeling and simulation, and supporting manufacturing to ensure high‑quality product development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design, development and implementation of technical solutions for complex, multi‑domain projects.
• Participate in project planning, scheduling and provide technical leadership to a sizable engineering team.
• Review and interpret customer requirements, act as primary contract liaison and analyze system trade‑offs.
• Develop deployment strategies, coordinate site‑wide deployment efforts and manage key vendor relationships.
• Prepare calculations, create and modify designs, and produce technical drawings in line with company procedures and client standards.
• Submit drawings for review, incorporate feedback, and support manufacturing through finalization and release of prints.
• Use customer data to upgrade, improve or repair existing machines and ensure compliance with DFx reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years of hands‑on mechanical design experience, preferably in switch, server or storage products.
• Familiarity with electronic product development processes.
• Strong ability to conceptualize, implement and validate system‑level designs.
• Experience with plastic and metal part design and awareness of tooling limitations.
• Product architecture expertise including high‑level thermal analysis, EMC/ESD compliance, structural layout and verification/validation planning.
• Design optimization experience using FEA and CFD is a plus.
• Proficiency with Pro/E (Creo) CAD system.
