Sr. Staff ESD Engineer

About the role

Synaptics is seeking a Sr. Staff ESD Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and testing of electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection strategies for advanced silicon products. Reporting to the Director of ESD, you will work on cutting‑edge AI‑native embedded compute and multimodal sensing solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Define ESD design guidelines for new chips and revisions.
• Create and lead ESD/LU test plans and execute product testing.
• Perform chip‑level ESD reviews, simulations, and develop new ESD cells to meet specifications.
• Collaborate with foundries and EDA vendors on ESD requirements.
• Conduct ESD/EOS failure analysis and deliver corrective solutions.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 12+ years of analog design experience, with at least 5 years focused on product ESD design.
• Proven expertise in FinFET ESD development and failure analysis.
• Strong communication skills and ability to mentor junior team members.
