Software Technical Support Engineer II

About the role

The Software (Technical) Support Engineer II provides on‑site and remote assistance for Applied Materials equipment software, resolving moderate‑complexity issues and supporting high‑value customer problems. The role blends technical troubleshooting with documentation and training responsibilities in a fast‑paced semiconductor environment.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and resolve moderate‑complexity software application and system issues on Applied Materials equipment.
• Investigate high‑value customer problems, systemic bugs, and software failures.
• Provide software support through the internal ticketing system and keep stakeholders updated.
• Create, test, and verify Software Change Notifications and Key Feature Procedures.
• Develop customer‑focused documentation for external software features.
• Participate in equipment software specification, design, testing and documentation reviews.
• Assist in training junior engineers and detailed product operation.

Required profile

• Expanded conceptual knowledge in software support and ability to broaden technical capabilities.
• Understanding of key business drivers and ability to align work with them.
• Informal guidance to new team members without formal supervisory duties.
• Strong problem‑solving skills for straightforward situations, using technical judgment and precedent.
• Impact on quality of own work and that of the team while following guidelines.
• Clear communication of complex information in simple terms.
• Willingness to travel up to 25 % for overseas or domestic training and support.
