Project Engineer - XiDong Railway Project

About the role

HITACHI RAIL is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Project Engineer for the XiDong railway project, based in Taipei, Taiwan and reporting to the Engineering manager. The role combines technical expertise, engineering management, technical resource allocation and strong communication skills, and covers the design, interface management between technical sub-systems and implementation of complex projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical design, review deliverables and coordinate with internal work packages to ensure system integration and delivery
• Monitor engineering performance and technical compliance, and identify project-wide technical risks
• Maintain the Technical Requirements and Compliance Matrix (e.g. EN/IEC standards, system specs) and assess the impact of variation claims and scope changes
• Assist the GPM with progress and variation claims, invoicing and payment collection, and with technical issues involving contracts and sub-contracts
• Manage system and subsystem interfaces with suppliers and client technical representatives, and lead technical discussions in design review meetings
• Prepare technical status reports, system performance reviews and risk reports, and assist with the monthly progress report
• Coordinate technical, quality and safety audits, and run postmortems to turn lessons learned into improved future designs

Required profile

• 5-10 years of experience in a similar business market
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred
• Experience with high-complexity, multi-disciplinary projects in multicultural and international settings
• Proven ability to coordinate multiple international remote teams
• Leadership and team management skills, with a proactive, entrepreneurial approach
