Process Engineer – Semiconductor Equipment

About the role

Lam Research is seeking a Process Engineer to join its Global Products Group, focusing on the design and engineering of advanced etch and deposition equipment for the semiconductor industry. In this graduate‑eligible position you will work with cutting‑edge technology, applying material science and surface engineering to develop next‑generation process solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research, development and evaluation of process formulations for semiconductor equipment.
• Review and improve processing techniques used in product manufacturing and fabrication.
• Develop and sustain new processes and enhancements to reduce production costs and increase yields.
• Compile and analyze test data to define process limits, specifications and next‑step actions.
• Collaborate with internal teams to plan experiments, collect data, analyze results and support customer demonstrations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or a related field; graduate‑eligible with no prior professional experience required.
• Laboratory experience with semiconductor equipment, surface preparation and analytical techniques.
• Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Familiarity with deposition and etching technologies such as ALD, CVD, PECVD, PVD, plasma‑enhanced processes, RIE, ALE, ICP and CCP.
• Knowledge of material synthesis and characterization methods.
