Principal, EHS Compliance (Construction Safety)

About the role

Coupang is expanding in Taiwan and is hiring a Principal for its EHS Compliance team, which sets up and runs a safe, legal and sustainable safety framework across all operations. The Construction Safety unit gives independent assurance and oversight of construction, engineering and facility-modification activities, identifying risks, monitoring compliance and working with internal and external stakeholders to raise the overall safety standard.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out regular and ad-hoc on-site audits of construction activities to find technical and operational risks, and write detailed audit reports for leadership.
• Build and maintain a compliance monitoring system for construction safety across all sites, and track, assess and interpret local construction safety laws, regulations and technical standards.
• Track construction safety KPIs, lead remediation of escalated risks and work with project managers, general contractors and engineering teams to close compliance gaps.
• Streamline safety compliance processes and promote a proactive safety culture with preventive standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Occupational Health and Safety or a related engineering field.
• About 8-10+ years of experience in construction safety management, EHS compliance or site safety auditing for large-scale engineering or facility projects.

Preferred qualifications

• Chinese and English fluency, able to write professional technical and audit reports in both languages.
• Certifications such as Professional Industrial Safety Engineer, CSP or equivalent national engineering license.
• Knowledge of industrial safety, structural fire protection and heavy equipment/scaffolding standards.
• Data tools such as MS Office and Excel for KPI analytics and dashboards.
