Legal Counsel

About the role

As a member of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s in‑house legal team, the Legal Counsel will provide commercially‑focused legal advice to support the company’s global operations and growth. Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will work closely with business units such as Commercial, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory Affairs and Human Resources.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements, including sales, purchase, service, distribution, OEM and procurement contracts.
• Support government and public‑sector contracting, including tenders, bids and procurement arrangements.
• Provide legal guidance on cross‑border transactions and coordinate with regional and global legal teams.
• Develop and maintain standard contract templates, clauses and review guidelines to improve consistency.
• Advise business stakeholders on day‑to‑day legal matters, including competition law, anti‑bribery, data privacy, product liability and healthcare regulations.

Required profile

• Law degree from an accredited institution and admission to practice in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Several years of experience in commercial contracting within a multinational environment.
• Proven ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical business advice.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of commercial contract law and related regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with competition law, anti‑bribery, data privacy and product liability matters.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, global setting.
