Hardware Support Technician I

About the role

The Hardware Support Technician I provides procurement, inventory, asset management, distribution and logistics services for pre‑market consumer electronics worldwide. The role also delivers technical assistance to ensure devices ship with the correct software image while working with cutting‑edge technology.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with inventory and asset management, including receipt and disposition of hardware.
• Document defects of pre‑mass‑production hardware and software.
• Perform hardware reworks such as swapping boards or chips and removing write‑protect screws.
• Execute software reworks, including imaging devices, wiping data, and rewriting system hardware IDs.
• Support servo flashing, firmware upgrades, and flashing of unsigned images.
• Resolve support tickets related to device issues.
• Provide technical support during events, with frequent travel.
• Carry out other duties as required.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with 0‑2 years of related experience, or equivalent education/experience.
• IT‑savvy and interested in new technologies.
• Strong communication skills in written and spoken English.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and fast‑paced environment.
• Quick learner who can adapt to changing conditions.
• Excellent organization and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Inventory and asset management.
• Hardware rework procedures (board/chip swapping, write‑protect removal).
• Software rework procedures (device imaging, data wiping, hardware ID rewriting).
• Servo flashing, firmware upgrades, flashing unsigned images.
• Device troubleshooting and support ticket resolution.
• Operating systems: ChromeOS, Linux, Windows, macOS, Android.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
