Field Service Engineer – Travel Heavy (Kaoshiung)

About the role

The Field Service Engineer will travel extensively to customer sites, providing installation, commissioning, and maintenance support for static frequency converters, variable frequency drives and related power equipment. The role requires strong technical expertise, hands‑on problem solving and the ability to train customers on proper operation.

Key responsibilities

• Pre‑commission, commission and service static frequency converters, VFDs, switchgear, transformers and power systems.
• Provide on‑site technical assistance, supervision and training to customers during installations.
• Interpret data, deliver technical instructions and produce safety, project and equipment status reports.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis, generate failure reports and support the quality team.
• Complete site documentation such as safety updates, check‑lists, and commissioning procedures.
• Perform hands‑on parts replacement, testing and verification of electrical equipment.
• Adhere to health‑and‑safety policies and ensure safe work practices.
• Interface with internal and external management levels in a clear, methodical manner.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• More than 5 years of hands‑on experience with medium‑voltage drives and rotating equipment in field service or maintenance.
• Solid understanding of power electronics, electric circuits, power systems, medium‑voltage and harmonics.
• Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers and at least one programming language.
• Proficiency with test instruments (power analyzer, oscilloscope, insulation‑resistance tester, Hipot).
• Willingness to travel 100 % of the time, including offshore assignments and short‑notice trips.
• Strong knowledge of health‑and‑safety risks and mitigation.
