Field Service Engineer – Semiconductor Equipment

About the role

The Customer Support Business Group enables customers with premier support throughout the equipment lifecycle. As a Field Service Engineer at Lam, you will be on the front lines, ensuring operational excellence of complex semiconductor equipment. Your work goes beyond installations and troubleshooting, directly contributing to customer success.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑site repair, maintenance, and complete installation/relocation start‑up services for Lam’s electro‑mechanical and electronic systems.
• Perform analytical problem‑solving, diagnostics, and component‑level troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
• Stay current on semiconductor capital equipment and Lam products through training and certification.
• Assist with complex field modifications and updates, maintaining records and coordinating activities between Lam and the customer.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert, representing Lam to customers and delivering exceptional satisfaction.
• Develop customer response action plans and transparently discuss opportunities and challenges.
• Provide technical instruction and mentoring for junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Engineering, or related field with 5+ years experience (or Master’s with 3+ years, or equivalent).
• Experience installing, maintaining, repairing, or troubleshooting semiconductor capital equipment.
• Proficiency interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics, diagrams, and operation manuals.
• Ability to work in a clean‑room environment while wearing required protective equipment.
• Willingness to travel frequently, domestically and internationally, and work flexible shifts including overtime and on‑call.
