Data Science Manager

About the role

Micron Technology, a global leader in memory and storage solutions, is looking for an experienced Data Science Manager in Taichung to lead a team of data scientists and analysts. The team builds data-driven solutions that optimize cost and drive efficiency across procurement and manufacturing value engineering. The manager owns delivery and people leadership for a portfolio of cost-related analytics and AI initiatives, and champions the adoption of Generative AI and agentic systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and grow a team of data scientists, set goals, run performance reviews and support career development
• Foster a collaborative, high-accountability culture of experimentation and continuous learning, and manage hiring, onboarding and resource allocation
• Oversee end-to-end development of models and tools for cost forecasting, cost-leakage and anomaly detection, and scenario and what-if analysis
• Drive analytics for manufacturing value engineering, identifying cost-down opportunities across design, materials, processes and supplier options
• Ensure solutions are production-ready, scalable and integrated into business workflows, and establish best practices for model development, validation, monitoring and governance
• Evaluate and adopt Generative AI (LLMs), AI agents and multi-agent systems, and emerging standards such as Agent-to-Agent (A2A) and the Model Context Protocol (MCP)

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Engineering or a related quantitative field
• 5+ years of experience in data science / advanced analytics; 1+ year managing or leading teams is a plus
• Proven track record of delivering data science solutions that drove measurable cost savings or cost impact
• Strong business acumen around cost structures, procurement spend and ROI
• Semiconductor industry experience is a strong plus

Required skills

• Python, SQL and modern ML/statistical methods
• Experience deploying models into production and working with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, etc.)
• Hands-on familiarity with Generative AI / LLMs and an understanding of AI agents and agentic workflows
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
