Assistant Research Fellow (Applied Sciences)

About the role

The Research Center for Applied Sciences (RCAS) at Academia Sinica seeks an Assistant Research Fellow to join its multidisciplinary teams in Taipei. This five‑year appointment supports cutting‑edge projects in intelligent bioengineering, green technology, and quantum photonics.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute research projects aligned with RCAS thematic areas.
• Develop AI‑driven biosensing, imaging, or nanodevice prototypes.
• Conduct low‑temperature optical measurements and time‑correlated single‑photon counting (TCSPC) experiments where applicable.
• Publish findings in high‑impact journals and present at international conferences.
• Collaborate with industry partners to translate discoveries into practical applications.

Required profile

• PhD in Biomedical Engineering, EE/CS, Materials Science, Biotechnology, Physics, Photonics, or related field.
• Interdisciplinary experience at the interface of AI and biomedicine, renewable energy, or quantum information is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and within cross‑disciplinary teams.
