System Engineer – Semiconductor Equipment

About the role

As a Systems Engineer at Applied Materials you will design, integrate and optimise complex systems that drive the semiconductor industry forward. You will work with cross‑functional teams to develop advanced solutions, write system specifications and ensure high‑quality, reliable products for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and troubleshoot complex engineering problems, providing field support for customer escalations and critical business needs.
• Define and design complex components, modules and subsystems, ensuring they meet market requirement specifications.
• Lead architecture brainstorming sessions and drive the selection of final subsystem architectures.
• Conduct detailed engineering analysis, create concepts for architectural designs and evaluate solutions.
• Build and qualify prototypes or procure subsystems from suppliers, testing for compliance with specifications.
• Support system integration during assembly and final testing, performing reliability tests and making necessary design changes.
• Provide remote and onsite support to field personnel as required.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience with metrology tools and CD‑SEM equipment.

Required skills

• Metrology tool expertise.
• CD‑SEM (Critical Dimension Scanning Electron Microscope) proficiency.
