About the role
Supermicro is seeking a Senior System Engineer to provide technical consulting, troubleshoot hardware and firmware issues, and support performance evaluation for server and storage solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical consulting to optimize system performance based on customer network and OS infrastructure.
- Duplicate and clarify issues reported by production and ODM/customized customers.
- Collaborate with R&D and lab teams to identify root causes.
- Support system performance evaluation during New Product Introduction (NPI), proof‑of‑concepts and trade shows.
- Assist with customized hardware testing and operating‑system installation for enterprise customers.
- Troubleshoot hardware and firmware problems reported by customers.
- Develop debug programs using shell scripts to efficiently diagnose hardware issues.
- Manage large OEM accounts independently when acting as a project manager.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience with server technology and OEM business.
- Strong ability to work independently with customers while collaborating with colleagues.
- Proven discipline to meet issue‑resolution timelines.
Required skills
- Extensive knowledge of Linux operating systems.
- Experience with VMware virtualization platforms.
- Proficiency in Bash and shell scripting for debugging.
- Advanced hardware troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- Familiarity with standard server and workstation hardware.
