Software Engineering Manager – Release Engineering (Google Cloud)

About the role

Google is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead Release Engineering for Google Cloud Platforms. You will guide a team of engineers in building, qualifying, and releasing large‑scale platform software that powers data‑center compute, storage, and accelerator solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a group of software engineers to address qualification and release challenges for platform system software.
• Own the software release pipeline, ensuring timely rollout of new features and fixes across the production fleet.
• Define and execute test strategies including smoke, upgrade/downgrade, security, performance, reliability, and user‑workload tests.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve software issues and improve overall product quality.
• Manage a multi‑team, multi‑location engineering organization, budget, and large‑scale project deployments internationally.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of software development experience in C++, Go, or Python.
• 3+ years of experience in testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
• 3+ years in a technical leadership role and 2+ years managing people.
• Strong sense of product quality and large‑scale software release processes.
