Technical Director (EPI/PEALD/PECVD/VF)

About the role

ASM is seeking a Technical Director to lead the development of advanced epitaxy, PEALD, PECVD and VF technologies. You will shape long‑term technology roadmaps, build strong customer relationships and drive innovative solutions for semiconductor manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Build and grow strategic customer relationships, identifying technology inflection points through direct interaction.
• Translate customer needs into internal product development priorities.
• Maintain and ensure relevance of technical information for internal and external stakeholders.
• Design and implement innovative technology systems that enhance customer engagement.
• Coordinate communication channels (phone, email, presentations) for consistent follow‑up.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives for the customer experience, including process and tool development.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Product Marketing, Product Development, Service Engineering and other teams.
• Drive projects that secure business, build trust in ASM capabilities and coordinate management reviews.

Required profile

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics or a related field.
• 15+ years of semiconductor experience, especially in epitaxy or thin‑film/PEALD/PECVD/LPCVD process development.
• Deep understanding of advanced CMOS fabrication, integrated flow, chemistry and physics.
• Proven track record of building collaborative partnerships with customers and internal groups.
• Experience working with local, regional and global teams in a matrixed environment.
• Strategic thinking, strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
