Spam and Abuse Analyst – MSA Team

About the role

Proton is looking for a Spam and Abuse Analyst to join its MSA (Mail, Spam & Abuse) department. You will help protect millions of users by detecting and mitigating spam, abusive sign‑ups and security threats across Proton’s email, VPN and other services.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and classify incoming mail to improve delivery and reduce spam misclassifications.
• Detect and block abusive bulk account registrations and protect user accounts from compromise.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and data‑storage teams to design and maintain real‑time decision systems.
• Monitor and respond to DDoS attacks and other site‑reliability incidents.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of machine‑learning models and rule‑based filters.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with experience in large‑scale email or security operations.
• Ability to work in autonomous, cross‑functional teams and handle fast‑paced problem solving.
• Passion for privacy, security and open‑source technologies.
• Excellent communication skills to document findings and collaborate globally.
