Software Engineer II

About the role

tsys is looking for a Software Engineer II to join its team in Taipei and help shape the future of global commerce. The engineer works through the software development life cycle, creating, designing, coding, debugging, maintaining, testing, implementing and validating applications with a broad understanding of many languages and architectures.

Key responsibilities

• Develop basic to moderately complex code using a front-end or back-end language, collaborating with business and technology teams on internal and external client solutions.
• Create and deliver routine program specifications for code development and support, with a moderate understanding of the application and database.
• Analyze, modify and develop code and unit tests, and perform testing and validation of code changes.
• Fix code deficiencies, propose alternatives and escalate issues.
• Maintain application and programming documents and recommend changes to development, maintenance and system standards.
• Apply a moderate understanding of procedures, methodology and standards, including PCI security compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business / Management Information Systems or a related field.
• Typically at least 2 years of professional experience coding, designing, developing and analyzing data.
• Experience with IBM Rational Tools is required.
• A bonus: 4+ years of experience and the ability to handle problems of moderate complexity, exercise judgment, build stakeholder relationships and work with general supervision.

Required skills

• Two or more modern enterprise programming languages.
• Experience with APIs and external services.
• Relational and NoSQL databases.
• Bonus: Linux, Windows, z/OS, Tandem; Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, DB2, Hadoop; Java, Python.NET, Ruby, COBOL; web and mobile technologies; machine learning frameworks.
