Senior Software Engineer, Pixel Camera Performance

About the role

Google’s Pixel Camera team is looking for a senior software engineer to drive performance and reliability across the camera application and its underlying subsystems. You will work closely with pipeline and algorithm teams, using data‑driven insights to prioritize improvements and deliver a polished camera experience for Android devices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead cross‑team initiatives to define, measure, optimize, and monitor key performance indicators in the Pixel Camera Android code.
• Collaborate with camera feature and on‑device ML teams to ensure features are optimized for speed, memory usage, and thermal constraints.
• Develop and operate telemetry data infrastructure that provides leadership with actionable insights on performance, reliability, and system health.
• Provide in‑depth analysis from advanced profiling tools to prioritize and validate performance improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience with strong data structures and algorithms knowledge.
• 3+ years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products and 1+ year in software design and architecture.
• 3+ years of experience in performance analysis, systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
• Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, experience shipping complex embedded software, and technical leadership experience.
