Senior Procurement Specialist – Substrate & Passive Components

About the role

This senior position leads strategic sourcing and commercial management for MLCC, inductors, and embedded substrate components. The role focuses on cost optimization, supply continuity, and end‑to‑end supplier strategy while collaborating with engineering, product, and finance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commercial negotiations on pricing, long‑term agreements, capacity, and payment terms for MLCC, inductors, and embedded substrates.
• Own the supplier strategy for these commodities, driving selection, allocation, and long‑term supply assurance.
• Drive cost‑optimization initiatives using cost breakdown analysis, should‑cost modeling, and localization strategies.
• Coordinate with Engineering and Product groups to ensure component readiness across NPI, ramp‑up, and lifecycle phases.
• Manage capacity planning, allocation, and risk mitigation for supply‑chain disruptions, geopolitical exposure, and cost volatility.
• Oversee contract governance, including MSA, NDA, pricing frameworks, and commercial agreements.
• Conduct supplier performance reviews, KPI tracking, and continuous‑improvement activities.
• Escalate and resolve critical issues related to quality, delivery, capacity, and commercial disputes.

Required profile

• 10+ years of purchasing/procurement experience, preferably in the semiconductor or electronics industry.
• Fluent English; Japanese proficiency is a plus.
• Hands‑on experience or strong familiarity with passive components (MLCC, inductors, embedded substrates).
• Advanced Excel and data‑analysis capabilities; proficient in PowerPoint for executive presentations.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management, or program management.
