Mechanical Engineer – Tainan, Taiwan

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductor and advanced display manufacturing, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for its Tainan site. You will apply physics, mathematics, and materials science to solve complex mechanical problems, design custom tooling, and support the full product life‑cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and troubleshoot difficult mechanical problems with limited supervision.
• Develop, design, or modify mechanical layouts, schematics, and specifications.
• Lead or execute projects, develop key suppliers, and generate mechanical product specifications.
• Design and implement custom tooling, fixturing, and processes for handling, assembly, and disassembly of components.
• Oversee manufacturing and installation processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Coordinate procurement and assembly of mechanical components, identifying critical parts and subsystems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4‑7 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with CAD software, thermodynamics, sheet‑metal design, material selection, and manufacturing methods.
• Knowledge of GD&T, flow analysis, and Design for Excellence principles.
• Familiarity with Applied Materials product life‑cycle, prototyping, packaging, and failure analysis is a plus.
