About the role
Air Products is seeking a Materials Engineer to manage material logistics and control on construction projects. The role involves coordinating deliveries, supervising material handling, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Follow company material management procedures and set‑up the Smart Plant Material system.
- Conduct weekly meetings with contractors, project teams, and expeditors to track delivery schedules and address material shortages.
- Develop and submit BOM/DCN packages with purchasing margins for review by construction managers and procurement.
- Plan lay‑down areas, supervise unloading, unpacking, and storage of materials, including rotating equipment and sensitive items.
- Inspect incoming material for damage, generate reports, and coordinate corrective actions with logistics.
- Collect and manage material certificates, maintain receiving summary reports, and keep files organized by purchase order.
- Perform material inspections with contractors and site engineers, arrange PMI tests, and issue NCN/OSD reports as required.
- Issue materials to contractors based on approved drawings, tags, and PID pages, ensuring proper protection and storage.
Required profile
- Strong understanding of construction material delivery status, quantities, and scheduling.
- Experience supervising material off‑loading, handling, and storage on large‑scale projects.
- Ability to work closely with contractors, project managers, and expeditors to resolve material issues.
- Familiarity with safety standards, job safety analysis, and lifting procedures.
Required skills
- Material management and tracking using Smart Plant Material system.
- Preparation of BOM/DCN packages with purchasing margins.
- Construction material control and lay‑down area planning.
- Inspection of incoming material and generation of damage reports.
- Handling of rotating equipment, sensitive instruments, and O₂‑cleaned valves.
- PMI testing for Monel and alloy steel components.
- Compliance with Air Products safety standards and documentation procedures.
