Engineering Technician

About the role

Applied Materials seeks an Engineering Technician to support the design, testing, assembly and troubleshooting of electro‑mechanical systems used in semiconductor and advanced display equipment. The role is based in Tainan and offers the chance to work on cutting‑edge technology that drives AI and next‑generation chips.

Key responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, modify and assemble electronic and electro‑mechanical prototypes and test fixtures.
• Perform system‑level and component‑level testing, troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and vacuum subsystems.
• Document test procedures, compile logbooks and write technical reports.
• Support new product introductions (NPI) and field upgrades, often with limited documentation.
• Provide technical training to junior technicians and act as a platform‑specific resource.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and follow all health‑and‑safety protocols.

Required profile

• Physical ability to stand for long periods, work in tight spaces, lift, climb ladders and operate forklifts.
• Experience working in clean‑room environments and using appropriate PPE.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate across engineering and manufacturing teams.

Required skills

• Electro‑mechanical system design and assembly.
• Electrical and mechanical testing of components and subsystems.
• Pneumatic and vacuum testing procedures.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Forklift operation.
